Will you be testing the next one James, and sharing your thoughts? As far as I'm concerned, it would be great if it still retains those dampening qualities and forgiveness. I'm also wondering, regarding increasing the thinner zone between the inserts and thickening the tips, coupled with my narrow stance, could that create more of a Vee bend in the board and funky turn shapes ?

Yes of course, that's what I do!

Unlikely.  I don't think it's going to be a problem but I do recommend you widen that stance to something more modern like 54cm.  It might take some getting used to but you'll have more power, leverage and control.  Canted risers will help make the transition more comfortable.

Well you probably have shit loads on your plate, and you may very well have had an arrangement with the first two owners, but now that you've tried the third, you feel it needs adjusting, which is great,.. because you seemed to do more testing with the C4s....so I had to ask. As for the canted risers, maybe, ..are they getting close to market?

This is true.  And we made quite a few changes from the original DoubleWide.  But I have a lot of faith in Carl and he did not disappoint; this is an exceptional board that exceeded my expectations by a mile.

Yesterday I rode this board on the steepest groomer in Revelstoke and aced it first go.  I was expecting to be at my limits trying to hold the edge, control my speed and fight the chatter but it was so easy and I have video proof!  (Coming soon.)  It's made me rethink the necessity of Titanal for west coast conditions...  The last time I rode this section (I call it "The Pitch") on a non-metal board it felt so intense and risky, this time it was mellow.  (That was a Knapton Twin two years ago.)

The DoubleWide also blasts through chop and will hold it's edge with a lot more speed than I expected.  It'll go long and fast or turn super tight and keep it slow.  It's so grippy and very damp and it handles the off piste better than any wide board I have ever ridden.

My only complaint is that it takes a lot of leverage to angulate it high on green terrain.  Easier with bigger feet and/or risers for sure.  Carl didn't notice it at all but he's confident he knows how to fix it.  The next proto will be a Skinny (288mm waist), that will help too.  It'll be in the demo tent at MCC for everyone to ride!

As for the canted risers

I don't know.  They're weeks late already.  The manufacturer is back from vacation Monday, I'll find out.

That says a lot.  It may be softer than the C4 longitudinally, but I doubt it'll be too soft for most people on more modest runs...  especially if you really want to tighten up your turns.

I'm curious about Carl's boot size.  I know he's in hard boots, but if he's bigger than your size 9 he'll have some more leverage there as well.

He's only 28.5 Mondo, but the whole hardboot setup is designed for increased leverage with the super stiff interface.
