Great job @toesidebob   Show us a photo of the edge when you pull off the tape please.  Wondering if the tape should have come off while the plastic was still wet?

There's still one more kit available in the store.  We're not going to restock this item, it's low margin and we can't compete with Amazon.  But I highly recommend this product, buy it from Amazon and make your favourite mitts last way longer!

I wanted to buy a few cases of mittens from China, coat them at home and sell them in the store.  Might still do that next season but we're focused on the risers, boot stiffeners and straps for this winter.  And outerwear from Skyline coming soon...

I'm just slaying...

Imao let the rubber dry first, you can get a clean line with a razor. Just pull till you see the tape edge then gently cut.

I finally coated my mittens, jacket, and pants with PMC 746—gotta say, I’m stoked with the results and can’t wait to test it out next week!

After seeing what happened to you, @toesidebob, I decided to play it safe. I started with a layer of painter’s tape for easy removal and added a layer of duct tape on top to prevent leakage through the painter’s tape.

The application process was super easy, and removing the tape was hassle-free. While the results aren’t perfect, I’m confident they’ll be really functional.

Cheers!

Looking good @carverarcalis!  I would like to be dipping cases of mittens into vats of this stuff before next season.  We'll see.

How did you apply it?  Paint brush?  One coat only?  And did the two layers of tape work well?  Why not just one layer of the duct tape?

I'm just slaying...

@wild-cherry I think PMC 746 is the best product ever! I’ve been testing it on the snow for the past two days, and it works wonders! My pants are a little stiff now, but totally worth it. 😆

I applied it by pouring some directly into the jacket and pants, then spreading it with a paintbrush. For the mittens, I used the paintbrush directly since I only needed to apply it to certain spots.

The double layer of tape worked perfectly—nothing leaked through, and it was super easy to remove without ripping any of the PMC. I used painter’s tape as the base layer because I’ve dealt with duct tape on pants before, and it’s a nightmare to remove if it’s left on too long. Using duct tape just to insulate the painter’s tape seemed like a better approach.

I’m sure there are better ways to do it, but this worked well for me!

Cheers!

Short feedback, I gave the PMC stuff a try and I ordered it at a model maker (could not find it at amazon) and prepared my mittens for the coating and here is the result:

I am very happy and proud of the result, and the application was quite easy, mix and stir, with a wooden handle in a plastic bowl, I use 1/2 bottle of A (yellow) and 1/4 bottle B (blue) witch was too much, half amount is sufficient. For application I use a 4 cm paintbrush swiping from top to the bottom, while the mittens were hanging on a rod. Use silicone gloves and a protection for the floor because the wet substance is running down, otherwise everything gets sticky.

Aber 16 hours of hardening and finally 2 hours at 65°C in the oven, I cut off the little threads on the tip of the mittens, I went out for a first try and ride. It worked perfect, the surface is slightly sticky but no problem with the snow or sleeves, the mittens are flexible and absolutely no strange feeling. The coating is very evenly, it seems to have a constant thickness and a clear color.

I would like to encourage everyone who might be reserved to do the work, it is very easy, much easier than expected and it takes 5 Minutes for the order, and one 1 hour of preparation and 20 hours of waiting.

With a new pair of mittens it takes me about 5 days till the material is insulted, next feedback will be on the durability of the coating and I have some ideas to improve the application..

Hey,

I saw the video of Jasey James where he mentioned dipping them and selling them. Is this still something that's being done, or was it just an idea? Where can I get this PMC 770, because I found nothing about this stuff.

..as I wrote earlier, I users a 4 cm paint brush serveral times. If you dip it, you need something that rotates the mitten constantly around its horizontal axes to prevent drip noses
