Looking to improve my heel side carving. I don't think I'm committing enough. Stance is 30F/15R. Any tips or suggestions?

Yeah...

1.  Keep the shoulders level by crunching in the rear obliques

2. Touch the front knee with the back hand through heelside

3. Drive the back knee into the turn, use it to pressure the heel edge between your feet

4. Rotate the hips into the turn and tuck the tail

5. Bring your back hand forward and the back shoulder rotates into the turn

6. Get lower through the apex

7. Angulate the board higher

8.  Get on edge earlier in the turn

9. Sharpen your edges

10. Get a better board

11.  Be more aggressive, try playing some punk rock in your helmet speakers

12.  Bow your upper body forward over the nose in initiation

13.  Eat more breakfast

14.  Get out earlier before the groom is chopped

15.  Tighten your boots, try a boot stiffener and straps

16.  Add more forward lean in your bindings

17.  Use the terrain to your advantage

18.  Go slower (notwithstanding tip 11)

19.  Practice practice practice

I'm just slaying...

Hello. Tell me How the rigidity of the fasteners can affect the quality of carving? I'm asking this question because my board is 6/10, the fasteners are 5/10, and the boots are 8/10. Спасибо.

Stiffer boots and bindings allow you to create and apply more edge pressure than your naked ankles could handle.  That's why racers use hard plastic boots for speed; your knees are a bigger joint and stronger than your ankles.

No need for super stiff boots or bindings if your board is only a 6/10.  That board's limits will be reached at around the same amount of edge pressure as your interface so it seems like a good combo.  A somewhat stiffer binding will help support higher speed carves and compensate for any weakness in the ankles.

indeed. but also important is how wide is the board. A board with WW from 27.5 and over, need another set up as a board with WW 26.0

Only a snowboarder knows this feeling. And once you've felt it for yourself, it's impossible not to want more. It's so addictive that it should be illegal, but it's not and that's why they make such good snowboards that after riding them you want to sell everything and move to the mountains, because a man has to have a balance in his life, and that balance should be 80% snowboarding and 20% working.

@wild-cherry James, tell me how you can strengthen the softer fastenings then? Do you allow the independent production of linings for fastenings if technically possible?

I know English, but not at the level of fluent communication, so I use online translation

I assume you're asking how to stiffen your bindings?  I don't think that is possible, you will probably need to buy a stiffer binding.

It is definitely easier to stiffen boots with new liners, boot stiffeners and straps.

Hahaha...  Gap Dream is one of my favourite bands to listen to while snowboarding.   It's more rock than punk maybe but it's great.   Songs like Fantastic Sam, 58th St. Fingers, and Immediate Life Sentence.

there is the option to make the bindings a little bit stiffer if you change the straps and the highbacks. However the options are limited

@wild-cherry I apologize for the off-topic, but it’s like a group Joy Division 🙂 🙂

And on topic - in an hour and a half I will be on the slope and will do it according to your advice.

Binding mods…

Personally I prefer my high backs to have a little bit of flex, so not the stiffest.  Also rotated parallel to the board, partially for drive, but also so they’re not in the way of fore-aft movements.

I frequently replace ankle straps and often mix manufacturers. The Burton Hammock is generally my fav.  It’s super comfy on my high instep, provides excellent toe side drive, and is uniquely supportive while still allowing some lateral maneuverability.  I also like the Bataleon infinity, but it’s very locked in so I prefer it more on the front than the rear.

Bataleon has the kink ladders as well, which allows you to raise the strap higher on your instep (they use same chassis as Rome but they don’t do the pivot mount).  I’ve used the kink on other bindings, but recently got rid of the suboptimal bindings (for me). I really hate bindings with a low ankle strap mount (Union, Ride), but some people with stronger ankles prefer that freedom of dorsiflexion.

@board-doctor Absolutely correct about ROME.

Tell me, do you have difficulty with swelling and numbness?

Practiced James' advice this evening. I tried to fix the position of my shoulders. You also have to control the straight line of the spine. Unfortunately, I have a habit of "hunchbacking".  There are no problems on the front edge of the board, but the rear edge is a problem. I can’t shift my weight to my back leg - out of habit I load my front leg.
