How far can you rotate your hips/abdomen/shoulders?
A key part of carving a snowboard is rotating the upper body so that a line drawn from one shoulder to the other runs directly across the snow board.
Now I'm an older inflexible hardbooter running angles in the 60s so I don't need a lot of rotation to get there. But a softboot carver is going to need much more rotation than me to achieve that position.
At age 65, I stood with my feet directly below me on a board floor to give me a reference point and managed to rotate my shoulders through about 135 degrees (no neck or head rotation) but that's my limit and it feels pretty tight.
@Wild Cherry What can you manage?
It would seem to me that if a soft boot carvers core flexibility is relatively limited, they should either or both a) increase their posi angles or b) work on their core flexibility.
This is interesting. I don't think a lot of snowboarders are 'athletes' (myself included), so we just don't think about these things. My core strength sucks, but I do try to stretch and maintain flexibility to reduce injuries. I think my shoulders can get around to about 160deg.
I don't run steep binding angles either (24/12 max)... I have little feet and don't want to loose all hope of ankle steering the board (especially at slower speeds).

I just tried and I can get much further if I allow my feet to rotate... I think ankle / knee flexibility is my main limiting factor; I run 27/12 and I feel it in my front knee when I try to rotate a lot on heelsides. I'm debating whether I should go steeper...

No harm in trying... Every body is different, and every board/boot/binding setup has differences too. Experiment and see what you like!
I've ridden soft boots as steep as 42/27 on narrower boards, I didn't mind the stance at all for carving but it was definitely more awkward for jump turns. Don't forget, the steeper your angles the more important lift in the rear heel and front toes becomes. Canting is good around 30/15 or less but becomes less important as you go steeper.
I'm just slaying...
