I'm trying to shift to a more open stance. when trying to do open stance in toe edge, it made a lot of sense but heel edge feels weird imo. cause if i face sideway i can apply way more pressure downwards if needed and there's just more leeway to counter balance on heel edge by facing side way.

logically it make a lot of sense too since we can bend forward to touch our toe easily, you can't exactly bend backwards to touch your toe (unless you specially trained in some circus or whatever), so open stance on toe edge makes a lot of sense since its the easiest to achieve angulation. but heel edge feels counter productive to achieve angulation the same way

ofc i get that making such a drastic change in stance for toe vs heel edge would cause way more movement too. but is this the main reason why ppl are doing open stance on both or am i doing or am i understanding it wrongly?

@ryanlimes If you do not face your hips forward on the heel side turn you will most likely end up in what James refer's to as the toilet stance. It is not very stylish and pushes your COM away from the board and reducing edge pressure. If your posture is facing forward you will then be steering with your dick (You must have heard the guys talking about this). If you do that and hold you beer tray thus angulating your hips you will get better edge hold, That is where using the beer tray drill combined with putting your rear hand on your front boot gets you into that good position. Hope this makes sense. Cheers!
