Donek's "Secret construction"
Posted by: @slabberyou have had Coilers with both T3 and T4 titanal I think? How did they differ?
That's a difficult question to answer concisely, especially because the Coiler T3 vs T4 is not the same as the JJA T3 vs T4. Simply put, the T4 digs deeper and grips better but it needs to be driven harder.
@dredman Yeah, that is the best video I've seen of yours. You're getting better at the videography and editing too! Nice! A pleasure to watch.

@dredman wow, seeing your riding on hard vs soft is making me think I should give hardboots a try! What binding angles are you riding on each setup?

I ride 65/60 with front foot toe lift and back foot heel lift, 21 inch width.
IMO. Forward angles sure make the bumpy stuff easier on your knees and hips. Hard boots are way easier to get to fit your feet, adjust your flex, and last a several long seasons. My boots are comfy enough to ride all day and never have to fuss with them.
I have a funky left knee so the SB thing does not work for me.
Carving is super fun, no matter how you do it.
I am getting Kristin trained up on the camera. Much better footage to work with.
@dredman your bindings aren’t that steep for the soft boots are they?
Big White, BC, Canada
@board-doctor I do not ride soft boots, lower binding angles and my left knee is not super stable.
@rocketman69 Oh, I thought those were soft boots in the second vid (GJK Bennet's Bowl to Chair 4, Jan 9, 2024).

Those are soft boots, but that's @rocketman69, not @dredman... You can't compare the two, Dredman is one of the top snowboard carvers on the continent. That video had me almost tempted to mount up some hardboots too! I would consider it, but I have a reputation to protect...

Indeed! Props to Kristin!

I've got a board (or nine) that you could ride. For boots, I have only 24.5, 26.5 and 27.5. Rent, borrow or steal some ski boots maybe, they're good enough for a test ride just to see how you like it. I have a Coiler VSR All Mountain with a 240mm waist so you won't boot out too badly in ski boots. Better, come to Montucky and ride a proper boot in your size. (The AlpineSnowboarder forum is probably your best bet for a cheap used pair of boots, as I'm sure you know.)

Ah, no wonder i was confused!
The 26.5 boots would probably work (I even have a high volume intuition liner for that size). I'm definitely considering Montucky, though next year... I really do need to get back in shape!

@wild-cherry ahh you are too kind. Looking forward to seeing you at MCC!
@board-doctor I do like riding my hardboot setup - Deeluxe 325 boots, F2 Intec Titanium bindings, Donek Flux custom board - at the same stance (F39/R30 - 20.5”) of my softboot boards.
this was early last season up at Loveland -

I’m thinking of trying this setup on my C4 to really understand what it can do😎
@wild-cherry That’s correct, my carving skills are fair, but at 64 I’m having a blast and working to improve my technique every time I ride. I did get one video on the C4 last week, conditions were crappy hard but the C4 could hold an edge better than me😎 - unfortunately, Loveland’s electric power was out and only one lift was running - so it got very crowded and not bad for carving

Early morning on Mambo & Tango Road at Loveland - not the best 1st video, hope to post some good stuff soon👍

That's so great to see the video! Thanks for that! Get your videographer closer next time for awesome action shots. Is that an insta360?
I'm just slaying...
@wild-cherry my riding mate John and I have been taking videos of each other for a long time - we usually stay as close as possible - I have a cool setup that uses a GoPro Hero6 with a matching Karma 3-DOF gyroscope handle. The stabilization is much nicer than the digital Hero10 I have and the Insta 360 I have too.
