Yeah...  I was in a mood last night.

Any suggestions about which parts should be edited out are appreciated.  I'm not totally sure whether I will ever publish this publicly, but I'm still feeling disruptive so maybe.

That’ll certainly ruffle some feathers!

While I don’t always agree with you, I do truly appreciate what you’re doing.  I think it's been like 25 years since I’ve seen so many tips that would actually apply to me.  It has really made me take a step back and examine what I’m doing (or at least trying to do).  In hindsight I probably could’ve learned a fair bit from the hard booters, but that seemed so different.

Thanks Brother.

There are a lot of haters on that other forum, I had never seen that site before.  Way different than alpinesnowboarder.com...

Turns out I had a lot to say though, on a bunch of subjects.  Gotta be me.

I had to go back and edit out the part where I gave away Donek's secret; had to show respect where it's due.

Keep doing you Brother , never apologize!
You will always have haters and trolls no matter what you say or do. The moment you give in you start to loose a piece of yourself .

in order to build something stronger you must be willing to tear the previous version apart .

So what do you guys think?  Should I publish this publicly?

I could also re-record the audio and be more organized and less angry...

There is nothing wrong with a little rant now and then, but it should be succinct.  Rambling rants are not very entertaining.

I suggest leaving it here. It will absolutely trigger some people and will reach who it needs to reach.  Let the discussion stay here instead of spreading it out on other platforms .

It was a lot of rambling (1 hr!), but I did enjoy all the riding footage.

In the context of the other forum (where other people seem to be easily triggered), I see where you were coming from... but yeah, you seemed triggered and overly angry.  I'd separate the ranting about social media from the rant about the industry.  On the industry side, personally I wouldn't call people out... focusing on systemic issues is generally more productive than blaming & shaming.

In defense of the 6000... I bought one and view it a quite differently.  This was a bit of an impulse buy, which really isn't typical of me.  It is just so different, and when I saw it I had to get on it.  I've got a couple of volume shifted (party-ish/pow-ish) boards that are fun to rip around on, but they don't carve that well.  The 6000 turns really easily and it does turn well.  In the late 90's shaped skis changed the industry and the general public started carving on skis.  I think this is a great introduction to the Freecarver segement.  Stuff like the Ride Peaceseeker have got a lot of attention, so I think there's some untapped market here.  Look at the variety of freestyle and freeride boards that we have.  Why not a variety of freecarvers?  And if it gets people carving I think that's a win.  For me it's really fun in soft snow (it's wider than my other carvers), and way more fun at slower speeds.  Sure there's not much time in the carve, but things happen quickly.  Early season it was really good conditioning at less consequential speeds.  It's also A LOT of turning.  When I feel like I haven't had a good enough workout, I'll grab this and really put it on edge.  It’s also effective at slowing me down, I often ride too fast and you simply can’t do that on this board.  The 9000 doesn't appeal to me. I'm sure it's great, but it's too much like other boards (and they're very short for their stance widths).  I would like to see them do a 12000.

If you were a book, some would say "loved it, very passionate couldn't put it down" or some may say " found it a bit hard going at times, but overall it was fine " or ..." nah, found it to annoying, put it down and couldn't get in to it again". I'm in the first camp, you remind me of my oldest mate from school days, he was often putting someones nose out of joint (Italian blood). Personally, I couldn't / wouldn't air my dirty laundry on line, too many knuckleheads. But on the small radius issue, I have found that my relatively small, by your standards, 8.5 to 10  Donek Flux is a bit much for many, if not most of our Aussie hills, (perfectly fine in NZ) there's simply not enough groomed room here, I can't hang with my Kiwi skiing wife, whom only rides the black runs. I can't get into any flow, if I'm only able to do two turns,  I'm having to change boards, which is fine, except its an old Jones, that can't hold an edge. So I've just received my new shorter flux with tighter radius 7 to 8.5 to help me go slower, safer and hopefully alter my line any where, to fit in a turn, not a skid. So my point is, it doesn't matter what the radius is, as long as the outcome is controlled turning, not skidding..and of course, your enjoying it. And to change the subject, I'd be reel keen on your, cant / lift devices when they're available. ...Appreciate your work mate.

I'm happy I listened to the first unedited version! If you have over 8 boots size or ride crazy posi angles you can't carve with the standard or wide board.  I'm also mad/sad I lost 20 years brainfucking why it was so difficult to carve. I'm stubborn and stupid maybe, being one of the few "only" there to carve on sb for that long. Honestly, I can count on my hands the ones on sb only there for the pencil turns. We are thought that you need a stiff board to carve, with mellow boots and bindings available it has always been a fight. The last five years I was riding SBX boards with high risers. I sold my favourite one earlier this season I was sick of the fight and it motivated me to order a JJASB. Everything changed... First I have so much fun, secondly I can focus on my technique more than just trying to understand how to control the board, I now can hold nice carve in various terrain. James here with his videos is making me look like a pro. Some carving buddies at my hometown resorts (mostly hb guys) are surprized by what can be done. I would say I can lay decent turns, but still am maybe at 40% of what James does!!! (makes me think he would enjoy the east; dirty, variable narrow runs. Hell last night you had ice, slush, moguls, corn... on a single turn!!!) What I'm saying is the equipment should have come first, long ago... I only miss the pop of the fibre boards, but that's a very small price to pay knowing now I couldn't have locked the turn on the board for starting.

I think what you are starting is a trend. You have unlocked potential, many will follow experiencing the joy. I figure one or two company will decide to invest the direction it should have 25 years ago. They just took the money and invested more in marketing. For them, the big players, changing their manufacturing equipment is not desirable. But greed again will be the motivation when they see you are really capturing attention and that people are asking for it. Meantime you and JJA will keep on improving those board and be so far away to what they will attemp to build. At least it will send a message: if you want a real carving sb board, it won't be fiber only, it will have more than 26.3 cm waist, and it will have above 9000 sidecut!

@slabber Yeah, thanks I caught that part too. Sean Martin actually recommended the Flux and the Incline first, but at the time I really wanted to improve my switch riding so I ordered the Knapton Twin. I am slightly ashamed to admit I ended up spending less than 2% of my time on it actually riding switch, so the tradeoff wasn't really worth it. Still, it's still something I'd like to improve so I don't regret buying the board but it might end up as more of a quiver board once I get the JJA. It's been really good in jumps and pow (with the additional setback inserts), so it might end up as kind of a park board (altough I'll need to detune the edges before I attempt any kind of boardslides on it again, this thing grips).

"Shut up Tyler"
