JJA C4 Reviews!
@piotr You could find comparisons you are looking for here in the review section.
Virus and Kessler are probably the best snowboards in Europe... but according to users here C4 is better...
Would love to see more reviews comparing the bords, but as of today C4 is arguably they best intermediate/advanced carving snowboard you can buy.
This is what I've found from my experience and other reviews:
JJA C4 > Virus/Kessler/Oxsess > Gray Desperado Type-R > SG Soul > Corua Café Racer+
Can't wait for the next carving machine from James & JJA...
Thanks for sharing you experience.
I am currently on BX board from Nobile
https://shop.nobilesports.com/pl/nobile-snowboards-race-sbx-ccs-2023
This year I got the virus raisers.
In Poland we have "ink boarders" group that promotes carving:
They also help others to gather together, like:
http://www.shaman-snowboard.pl/en_index.html
They organize nice events, this year cue-boards came with their equipment for testing.
Sadly just before the event i got my clavice fractured.
I am more looking into the board with titanial, as @wild-cherry in one of his YT recommended that they cut moguls and icy groomers would benefit as well, and this is the case in Poland.
So for example, cue boards don't offer titanial, while Kessler x-carve, Nobile N8TI does, Virus uses something new which they call Zylon.
Probably, although I really want to get a new board, should stick with my BX and learn more with, the recently bought, raisers. I like the edge to edge feeling of the narrow bx, don't know how much the raisers will help.
Some japanese on that board:
@piotr C4 is my first titanal rubber snowboard, and I wouldn't buy another board without that construction. The Zylon in the Virus is great, but for me, the C4 with titanal feels even better.
How do you like the Virus risers? Have you had a chance to try them?
@damir hard to tell, as on the 2nd day , after I got them to test I had my collar bone fracture. And as the weather was bad for testing, didn't really have the chance.
I read somebody's opinion that they generally didn't change the characteristics of the board, and that the dampening effect was very positive.
I can drop a line translated from German from alpinesnowviard forum where the author shares his own thoughts:
So now I'm going to add my mustard and an explanation to the record and the idea behind it. I tinker and develop on plates, or Damping systems have been around for over 20 years. (Will also post a corresponding ancestral gallery in this regard). As Ed already described in the incoming mail, the continuous plate system of various manufacturers is not desirable. First of all, in advance, what an aluminum plate does, as it is currently considered essential in the World Cup. What I noticed primarily decouples the plate from the feeling of the surface. This may still be justifiable on a well-groomed World Cup slope. On a slope that we normally drive on, it is extremely dangerous! At least I injured myself 2 times while testing these cackdinger, and not insignificantly. When changing from an icy place to a place where it has blown soft snow, the board has braced itself, pulled my foot out of my shoe and then immediately punched it back in ... Result 4 weeks crutches! Acceleration of the board from the curves with the aluminum plate ...Zero! Driving pass increase ...Zero! Damping for faster driving ... yes but dangerous for normal use (is my personal opinion, everyone should decide for themselves) Further disadvantage, the high weight of unsprung mass, faster fatigue.Driving pass increase ...Zero! The basic idea of standing on a stable platform and the board bends freely under the plate, that the knees are unaffected by a balancing movement and what would be the only reason that makes such a plate useful is not the case because the plate bends together with the board. My personal opinion about this system ... completely expensive scrap. The lemming fraction in the World Cup seems to be of the opinion that it is no longer possible without, so it must be State of the Art ... so if you have 1200 euros left and want to belong to the Inner Circle, you need an aluminum plate ... absolutely ... you can't discuss it away because the fastest of the fastest ones drive such a plate.
Thanks to Corona and thanks to the 3D printing technology, I was finally able to finish my project Isolator Platte, on which I have been developing for more than 3 years and for some reason have always pushed in front of me ... the plate also works on every board, freeride, boardercross, carving, extreme carving ... wherever!
What does the record do many of you will ask yourself!
The record does a lot at the same time!
-It dampens vibrations and, above all, the vibrations that make your muscles tire fairly quickly and why many run to the gym and stand on a vibrating or vibrating plate to train the muscle and get tired quickly! That means your muscles tire more slowly and you have more and longer driving pleasure.
- It calms the board extremely from smooth running ... similar to an active chassis in the car!
- It increases the stand by 15-16 mm, which means that it generates more edge pressure and also distributes the pressure over a longer area of the edge without affecting the board's bending line. Conclusion more edge grip and more grip!
- The plate spans the curve with the board, stores the energy and releases it from the curve ... more acceleration from the curve ... this is also adjustable!
- I can do the same with the front binding and increase the pressure on the nose so that the board reaches or reacts faster.
The good thing is that you don't lose the feeling of the surface and what happens under the board in a positive sense. - Due to the somewhat higher level, you can also drive a little flatter angles and do not get into the snow with the carve ... more edge grip and less risk of a bootout ... this is particularly noticeable with freeride boots, which are usually a little smarter.
Now one or the other doubter will still lead ... is a Apex Gecko copy ... no it is not! The boys probably had a very good approach but didn't think the whole thing was over. Since form follows function and physical laws cannot be turned upside down, the shape and design of the isolator plate is more or less automatic!
The plates are available in 3 versions that cover boards with a width of 15-28 cm
15-20 cm 20-25 cm 23-28 cm
The wide plate can also be used for boards with more than 28 because the base plates of the bindings are never longer than 24 cm!
There is a glass fiber and carbon plate ... the carbon plates are better than the glass fiber and are recommended for alpine board race and carving ... the glass fiber for Freecarve Freeride Xtremecarving Boards.
Thanks to the individual adjustability, you can get the most out of each board and improve its performance again! In addition, you in turn reduce the risk of a break because it distributes the load more evenly over the surface and there is no kink point as in front of or behind an aluminum plate and the core of the board is not weakened by additional inserts.
