@wild-cherry just curious, do you have the roughest of timelines for delivery of the JJA boards? gotta put something on my calendar to be excited about…
@parkcityguy Well, they'll first have to contact us to get some more details on our dimensions, from what I understood. Then, I guess we'll have to pay the rest of the board (we only put down a deposit, after all...). So you probably won't get your board before both of these steps are complete 😉
Official word was "before the start of next season in the northern hemisphere", so I don't expect to see anything before October...
Also, @wild-cherry will it be possible to pick up the board in person? Tremblant is only a couple hours away from me so maybe I'd like to go and meet the man. Altough I understand he might be busy / not interested; and I did already pay for shipping, so no problem if not possible.

I'm guessing the first ones will be ready in six weeks.

This is happening soon. I'm still testing boards, three more in transit now with mystery changes. It'll be like a blind taste test.
After testing, I'll contact everybody with information so that you can choose your own custom options depending on things like your weight, how aggressively you ride or plan to ride, what kind of snow density you're in, the amount of speed you want to carry...
We'll start a new thread here and I'll try to help everybody decide what suits them best.
We got some wicked video today. I might have something soon for the "exclusive content" section.

Very probably yes! And you'll save shipping costs @emilecantin

When the time comes, what kind of questions should I be expecting from you guys about the JJA board? I have a few days more of riding, so I’d like to prepare myself. Way easier to do that now when there is snow available 😀

I'm gonna try to give you the best information I can (without revealing too many of JJA's secrets) so that you can make the most informed decisions about the options you want in your board. I'll probably do this in video format.
You'll have to decide, for example, how stiff you want your board and how grippy. Stiffness will determine your speed range, i.e. the minimum and maximum turning speed or the maximum edge pressure your board can handle without chattering. So you'll need to decide how fast you want to go, and whether you want the board tuned for the first day of the season or whether you want a board that might be challenging at first but which you can grow into as your skills improve.
And you'll decide if you want the extra grip tech, which I like a lot but isn't necessarily recommended for intermediate or less aggressive riders. It's sort of a "locked into the carve" feel vs a more forgiving "easier to slarve" character.
These decisions are personal and some of the factors to consider are the rider's weight, ability, and aggressiveness, the snow density they usually ride, the terrain and the crowd density, and how fast they want to go. The same rider, for example, will want a much stiffer board for ripping wide open turns on ultralight snow at Grand Targhee than they would for tighter more crowded runs on artificial snow at Stowe Vermont.
You would probably be amazed at the wide variety of ride characteristics JJA can achieve within the same shape board. I have been.
So unless you're in Revelstoke this week testing boards with me, there's not much preparation you can be doing right now besides practicing your skills and thinking about what you want your board to be.

Oops, edit as I got the wrong quote tag...
Posted by: @wild-cherryYes they do make titanal carving boards, but not wide titanal carving boards...
Hi James! I was talking to you last year on your channel. For starters, I want to say thanks for a fantastic contribution to the soft boat carving world! I'm interested in ordering a JJ board if you have one left or for next year. I have some questions about the board flex and shape. I'm 45 yers of age and have been riding since 1992. I'm a super nerd as well ;). I'm 183 cm tall, 240 lbs/110 kg, boot uS 11,5 advanced carver. I have never found a production board that i stiff or wide enough even Kessler and Nidiker, so have ben riding custom-made Donek saber/incline, Nomad and Flux models for last 12 yeras. My last Flux is 172cm w 29, effective edge 156 cm. With Flux XV (by your advice) I love thet Flux board it is so damp and eats up everything. It is also good in powder in open spaces. It is not so poppy lively out of turns as my incline/saber board. It Feels like your description of a metal board. But it is heavy 6,5 kg. I'm always looking for the best ride I can get so maybe the JJ board is a big step up? Sean Martin at Donek sed to me that carbon fibre in boards can break and tear and destroy the board from the inside but you own a few so you would know if some of the board has ben broken or too broken in. Does the JJ board come with stiffness for my weight? I love a bit of early rise in the nose but not in the tail. But you write that it has full camber but is it full full camber with no rise at all? Is it softer in the nose and stiffer in the middle? An effective edge of 143 cm is the minimum for me to feel cony in weight distribution in the apex. What are your recommendations?
Regards from Sweden

Hi James - thanks or sharing this info about the JJ prototype - happy I have a deposit down.
I’m hoping that the 166cm length works for my 6’ 103kg body - what stiffness would you recommend?

Fill out the form I just sent you by email first so I have more details to make a better recommendation. Probably the mid flex if you're an intermediate carver or the stiff flex if you're expert. At 103kg I will probably recommend the EGS too.

@pontan That's a lot of questions... Yes, this board would be a huge step up from your Donek and yes, the stiff flex with EGS would be sufficient for your size and skill.
I can't give you all the information you've asked for, Jasey-Jay likes to keep his secrets. I will say that you don't have to worry about breakage, Jasey-Jay has been making boards with similar construction for more than a decade without issues. He has tech that Sean Martin has never even imagined. However, nose rolls and similar tricks are not recommended; nose rolls will be hard on any board and wear it out much faster than normal carved turns will, especially with a 240lb rider.
They will break in though and soften up somewhat, but after about 10 days they will stabilize and maintain their characteristics for a long time.
We're sold out for now but if production of the first 30 goes smoothly then hopefully we'll announce another batch this summer. Go to the store and get on the wait list for the next batch and you'll be among the first to know when more boards are available.

I saw the model number's now C4 - is "Corduroy Cutlass" the final name or is a survey for that going out too?

Yeah, I had to make an executive decision on that. The poll idea was good but complicated. C4 is the final name: Carvers Connection Corduroy Cutlass!

@wild-cherry For what it's worth, I think you choose one of the best ones, good decision!
