Hey everyone!

Do you know any other bindings than Flow NX2 Carbon that would do well and have 0cm BO?

Available in Europe would be best but we could maybe create a general list 😛

Yeah, any hardboot binding!  Or the old K2 Clicker from the 90s?

Kidding aside, I don't think there are any other zero BO factor bindings besides Flow.  Good thread, I would be very interested to find out that I'm wrong about this!

I'm just slaying...

Salomon Quantum is pretty close to 0 and has similar power transfer method than Flows. Quantums (and all other Salomon Shadowfit bindings) use a kevlar wire to support the highback and transfer the energy to the middle of the baseplate much like Flows. The heel loop does have a little bit of plastic but the overall the BO factor is really small compared to many other bindings. I only have two sessions with my new Flow Fuse Carbons thus far but as I thought, they offer more lateral support than Quantums. Quantums are really nice if you want more lateral flex than Flows. I wouldn't recommend Quantums for higher posi-posi angles but for duck and low posi-posi angles they are really good. Here are two photos with a Salomon F4.0 boot strapped in:

Quantum2

I anticipate I will be riding Quantums when it's softer and Fuse Carbons when it's firmer or when I go posi-posi. I don't use much forward lean so for me even Flows are not BO zero since the heel of the boot doesn't go as far back as it would with more forward lean. I think Quantums could be zero BO or close to that with maxed out forward lean. Quantums also have highback rotation but that's coupled with the forward lean so if you want to rotate, you can't have as much forward lean. For my style, I have headroom for both settings but earlier I rode with maxed rotation and forward lean. Lately I've been wanting more lateral movement so I have decreased both the rotation and the forward lean, works for me.

I really like the Flux CV with the higher heel cup.  The Jones/Now/Yes Skatetech has a higher heelcup too.

hi xargo , why you don't recommend the quantum for high ++ angles  ? Do you think they can cause ankle soreness in high posi posi due to the low  lateral support ? even if you rotate the highback ?

The Quantum highback rotation setting is quite limited and as mentioned it's tied to the forward lean adjustment. That means if you want to go full rotation, you can't go full forward lean. Full rotation also means you can't get relaxed forward lean but that's probably not a problem for posi-posi carving application.

Also the baseplate construction is quite low so it doesn't offer much lateral support and the straps are not as supportive as Flow Fusions for example. I don't like laterally stiff bindings myself so Quantums are great for me but usually what I hear from posi-posi carvers, they want fair bit of lateral support and that's why I wanted to be cautious recommending Quantums for that.

As you guessed, ankle soreness point is also important to consider with shadowfit bindings. I like to use my ankles a lot so they are quite strong. However when I practiced posi-posi earlier with a hardboot setup and didn't ride softboots much, my ankles weren't as strong. Then I had a session with my usual softboot duck setup and my ankles couldn't take it. So it's important to get used to whatever equipment/settings you use. This season when I have ridden almost exclusively softboot duck, my ankles are strong and I have no ankle problems whatsoever.

What do you think about these ?
https://www.gnu.com/freedom

Very similar system to flow but they do have a small toe cap. Aluminum base plate. Not sure if high back rotates. I’ve tried researching into these and there are no reviews to be found which baffles me, as gnu/lib are big companies in the game.
