@wild-cherry I wanted to know if the Ride insanos in size 9 and 9.5 are the same?

Thanks for posting this question @whitmore24

I would have thought so, but this came to my attention yesterday:

It seems Ride has built a different last for each half size!  Kudos to Ride for that!

A lot of boot manufacturers just use the the same size shell for a given size and a half size up, and then just use a lower volume liner for the half sizes.

This is good to know, I might have bought a size 26 Insano shell and tried to fit my aftermarket liners into them.

And despite this rep's reluctance to recommend an aftermarket liner, I strongly suggest replacing the liner.  Snowboard boot liners are crap compared to ski boot liners generally.  I like the UPZ Flo liner, available at UPZboots.com, but Jasey has suggested I try a stiffer Intuition PowerWrap and I might do that next season.

@wild-cherry Hi James I purchased the ride insano boots in size 9.5 which is a 27.5 mondo. My barefoot measures 27.2 when I do the shell test my heel is less than half an inch my finger is snug against the shell and my heel. If I put a 9mm power wrap liner inside will there be space for my foot to fit inside? Or should I get the size 10 inside. Thanks

@whitmore24 Oh man...  I have no idea.  I can't bootfit from 3000 miles away.  Usually this is done in the shop by test fitting.  I hold the stock liners up back to back with new liners I'm considering, and make sure the length is approximately equal so I know it won't get crushed or swim in the shell.

You're likely going to need the size 9, the 10 probably will get crushed inside that shell.  That's kind of a guess though, don't they make 1/2 size liners?  I think they do make different volume liners in the same overall (outside) size.

Start with the mid or high volume and then see how it fits?  Or order multiple liners and send back the ones that don't fit?  Maybe talk with the retailer who you're buying the liners from, they should have a better idea of the product line and the fit.  I haven't used the Intuition PowerWrap myself.

Sounds like you're on the right track though, one snug finger is about right for a shell test.  These shells will be way better than your old 10.5s.  You could also do your summer trip in the stock liners and see a qualified bootfitter down there, or on your first winter trip in December.

Has anyone put a power wrap in a snowboard boot?  I tried, and it was absolutely huge around the cuff.  I think ski boots clamp down around it better.  I went with the tongue liner.

Also, beware of the sole thickness of the liner.  I’d pick one that’s only 3-4mm and shim if necessary. If you go too thick you might not fit.

Jasey does it.  He convinced me to try it next season.

FWIW, I tried to put an Intuition Power Wrap+ (high volume) in a 8.5 Thraxis and there was no way it was going to happen.

Good to know, thanks.   I guess I'll have to bring my boots with me to test fit the liners.

I’m thinking of going the powerwrap route but my ride insanos as you know have the internal lacing on the shell and was wondering does the powerwrap work well with that or is a tongue liner a better route like @board-doctor mentioned.

Unknown...  You're the lab rat on this one.  Let us know how it fits please.

I've always run custom or aftermarket tongue liners in all my soft boots, it's Jasey that suggested that the Powerwrap would be stiffer.  I haven't tried it yet but the heel shape should be similar so I don't anticipate a problem there.

@board-doctor is usually right, in my experience.  The added material in the upper boot will make the shell wider there and that in itself might make the whole boot system more flexible.  I just don't know for sure...

It was the high volume (15mm foam) that wouldn't fit mine, but they didn't have any lower volume wraps to try.

Definitely let us know how it works out!
