Open Letter to Flow Binding Co
I'm just slaying...
Well, i would like to know if they even reply to your Open Letter.
I ordered some spare parts for my bindings, they delivered only 1 from the 4 i ordered (although all of them were prepaid) and i am still waiting for an answer.
Only a snowboarder knows this feeling. And once you've felt it for yourself, it's impossible not to want more. It's so addictive that it should be illegal, but it's not and that's why they make such good snowboards that after riding them you want to sell everything and move to the mountains, because a man has to have a balance in his life, and that balance should be 80% snowboarding and 20% working.
Yeah sizing is wonky. I have older Flow Freeballers and those are based on the Fuse baseplate. I got those size L for my mondo 27 boot but they were too large just like you showed in this vid. Now when I got Fuse Carbon Hybrids, I got them size M and they fit my small footprint mondo 27 boots perfectly. I don't use much forward lean these days since I need to be able to move laterally to pressure the nose and tail with duck stance so for me the forward lean adjustment is plenty enough. I'm using only 30% of the available forward lean range.
I did contact Flow before buying the Fuse Carbons and they told me that the size M might fit but they said they can't be sure since I'm not using Nidecker boots. Just by eyeballing from Nidecker page, those seem pretty bulky so maybe that's why the Flow binding sizing seems strange as well. In any case I recommend size M for up to mondo 27 with small footprint boots. I've only ridden with Salomon F4.0 boots thus far but I also tried that Salomon Malamute, Ride Insano and Vans Infuse seem to fit just fine. Ride Insano in particular has plenty of headroom for adjustment.
i have adidas 27.5 with L Flow Fusion Hybrid and i think they are ok.
What boots do you have? Burton?

Me? Burton Driver X size 9. Not a great fit in the large NX2 but I make it work. Gonna buy some Ride Insanos as soon as they go on sale.

They'll have to find it first, or someone will have to alert them to it. This video is unlisted, visible only through the link or through this forum thread.

@wild-cherry ok, that makes me worries. I wanted also the DriverX in 9, to combine them with the liners which i have (from Adidas).
But if the Driver9 + NX2 in L/XL are not the best combination, i would look for something else. Good that i now , however
PS i thought you have MP 26.5. Is this not the US 8.5 ?

Haven't tried this, but cables from smaller sizes may address lack of fwd lean? Or shift anchor to larger slot in front, does wobble around a little, maybe a washer ?Posted by: @wild-cherry
I'm glad I found this post and the other Wild Cherry content... just pulled the trigger on buying Ride Insanos and Flow NX2 Fusion Carbon bindings. I've always ridden in hardboots and am going to switch to softboots for now. I was on the fence between the Insano's and the Driver X's. I had tried the Insano's on in the store and liked them but had had some reservations because it seemed that the Burton Driver X's were the go-to boots of the carvers that I had been watching on youTube.
looking forward to some softboot style, and going without my lift line conversation starter hardboots 😉

Dunno exactly, I thought it said 26.5 but my boots are in the luggage compartment of an airplane right now so I can't check. I expect the medium bindings would work better with Driver X size 9 but I'm overspend on gear for this season already and no one sells them in Revelstoke so I can't try them on without buying. I'm gonna reach out to Flow in the summer and see if I can't get some free bindings for next season.

Ryan Knapton switched to Insanos this season. I'm gonna buy a set this week and I'll report back.

Yeah, I would like to ride these with shorter cables and maybe the medium straps. I'm already in the forward holes, I tried moving the highback without changing the cable hole but it resulted in extreme forward lean and I couldn't center my boot on the board anymore. If it had sliding slots instead of holes there would be more forward lean options. It could be an easy fix but as the binding is made now there's no room to drill another hole without weakening the structure.

@wild-cherry Hi James,I hope Flow/Nidecker will eventually get to see you great suggestions.
In the interim... you mentioned a bit of a gap on the top portion of the straps. I have read on another site about people noticing a difference between the fusion strap and the hybrid strap. They stated the hold felt better with the hybrid vs the almost full basket type of the fusion. they mentioned better hold for the ankle. Just throwing that out there. Might be worth giving it a try.
Hello, James. I bought a fli
w nx2 carbon size m for size 26.5 shoes. but the shape is so small that the toe is very sticking out. Take a photo. Should I return them to the store? is the platform too small for this size?
the highbacks are not so gut adjusted. Maybe if you put the highbacks one hole higher, and the cables one hole back it will be better
Otherwise these are the deeluxe edge pro? did you try them? i am between Ride Insano, Edge Pro or Driver X for the next saison

imo if you get narrower straps but your boot still has play in a too wide footbed your boot will shift not matter how hard you tight them down. I have 28-28.5 and with large burton bindings it happens every now and then because of a crash or heavy weight shift. I use only medium bindings.
Thanks for the letter/review, wearing larger boots than you I will try to grab a pair with the end of season sales!
@turms unfortunately, if you move the cable to another hole, the highback moves even further away. if you raise the height of the cable, it gets a little better, but not perfect. the short platform scares me more. will the installation be adequately transferred to the front edge? What do you think? Yes, it's deeluxe edge pro. I have the same ones from two years ago. I am very pleased with them. they are still good, but I bought new ones in a smaller size. They're still better on me. I recommend this model)
@wintervince Don't you think that the toe of my shoe in the photo is hanging too much in the air?
